What do you believe is your responsibility to this moment in history?

I believe my responsibility at this moment in history is to create environments – whether a course, training, retreat or service project – where folx are empowered to know their strengths and then leverage those strengths to thrive in their contexts. 

I envision a world with stronger leadership. To bring about this vision, we must each recognize and celebrate our unique strengths. Our teams, business and societies become stronger as we all live into our strengths and create communities where folx know they belong. By doing this, we may unlock a new future for us all.

Dr. Sarah Skidmore envisions a future where the LGBTQ+/SGL community is not just tolerated and their presence not just endured – but where the community’s voices and lived experiences are sought after and recognized as an invaluable piece of the global diversity mosaic as laws are rewritten, as strategies are developed, as new experiences are created. 

Dr. Sarah is the CEO of Skidmore Consulting and serves as a Leadership Doctor and Consultant. Skidmore Consulting is a certified LGBT Business Enterprise with the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and frequently engages the NGLCC community with her services. As a Leadership Doctor, she moves clients from leadership pains to strength through leadership training, leader development programs and business consulting. 

Although she is currently based in Florida, Dr. Sarah serves clients worldwide – from Canada to Mexico to Germany to the Philippines, and more. Not only does Dr. Sarah work with diverse leaders and diverse-owned businesses, but she also provides leadership training to corporate and Fortune 500 clients. The firm’s shift to virtual services over the past 18 months allowed Dr. Sarah to meet the training and business consulting needs of multi-locational teams, remote workforces and international clients as they navigated the pandemic and business continuity. 

Whether working with executives, middle managers, employee resource group (ERG) leaders, or emerging professionals, Dr. Sarah believes that Leadership is an Adventure. She believes that growth is fundamental for the leaders and teams she trains, as well as for herself. As such, she is continuously seeking new learning environments to expand her own leadership and influence in the world. In 2021 alone, Dr. Sarah completed a certificate program in Strategic Foresight from the University of Houston and another in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida. She also became a Certified Diversity & Inclusion Professional (DIP) based on the ISO-30415 Standard for Diversity Equity Inclusion & Belonging (D&I) through the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

In October 2021, Dr. Sarah was selected to attend the Tuck Digital Excellence Program being offered in collaboration with Google. She is a professor of Mobile and Emerging Technology Marketing at Full Sail University.

Dr. Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business from Dordt University; a master’s degree in public policy and business communications from Liberty University and a doctorate in strategic leadership and human resources development from Regent University. She served as a board member and communications chair with the American Marketing Association, was a strategy consultant with The Climate Foundation and volunteers with the Marine Discovery Center.
