Sharice Davids
Class of 2021 BEQ Pride LGBTQ Leader Under 40
U.S. House of Representatives (Kansas)
(She, Her) is 40

Representative Sharice Davids is the first openly LGBTQ member of Congress from Kansas and one of the first Native American women elected to Congress. Davids is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Vice Chair of the Aviation Subcommittee and a member of the Small Business Committee.

Davids was raised by a single mother who served in the Army for 20 years. As a first generation college student, she worked her way from Johnson County Community College to the University of Missouri-Kansas City and onto Cornell Law School.

Davids left her corporate law job in Kansas City to live and work on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where she developed and led programs in entrepreneurship and economic development. In 2016, she was one of 16 people selected to the prestigious White House Fellowship Program under President Obama.

Davids has worked hard to deliver on her promises to the people of Kansas’ Third District to be accessible, protect health care, make sure the government is serving the people, invest wisely in infrastructure and improve economic opportunity for all.

She successfully ran and held her seat in 2020 continuing to bring Kansans voices to Washington. She has been present and accessible to people across the Kansas 3rd District so she can hear their ideas and concerns.
