By 2030, twice as many people with disabilities will be employed because every employer will understand the value they bring to the workforce.
Jennifer Hersom is Director Product Marketing at Salesforce. She created the Salesforce Queer Womxn’s Group (a sub-group of the overarching LGBTQ+ Group at Salesforce), which now has nearly 200 members. Jennifer is also a passionate champion for people with disabilities. She is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Science in Global Economics and she holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
As the daughter of a disabled parent, accessibility is a topic that is personal and impactful for Jennifer. One in 5 adults in the U.S. has a disability, many of which are invisible. People with disabilities have a startlingly low – 30% – employment rate. That is why she dedicates her time to increasing awareness of disabilities and empowering employers with the knowledge and skills to create more opportunities for people who are disabled.
In addition, Jennifer champions accessibility awareness around the country through various events that encourage employees to commit to being more inclusive to persons with disabilities when hiring and expanding their teams.
Jennifer volunteers as a crisis counselor at Crisis Text Line, helping people work through issues such as suicidal intentions and self-harm through active listening and collaborative problem-solving.
