LUZERNE MCALLISTER, II

VICE PRESIDENT, HEAD OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION,  & CULTURE, POINTCLICKCARE

Class of 2022 BEQ Pride LGBTQ Leader Under 40
(He, Him) is 38

What do you believe is your responsibility to this moment in history?

My responsibility is to use my voice, my presence, my relationships, experiences, and my gifts to elevate and amplify the voices of those who are marginalized in a way that helps build bridges of understanding. This can be exhausting and so I have a duty to myself to practice radical self-care, which involves intentionally engaging in acts of joy in the midst of events or news that cause trauma. I believe that I have the ability and the responsibility to learn the truth in our history and then share that truth with others even – and especially when – the truth is painful, yet empowering and liberating. My responsibility is to challenge myself and others to turn this moment in history into something more.

Luzerne McAllister is Vice President, Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Culture at PointClickCare, the market-leading healthcare technology company in the long-term post-acute and acute care industry. Luzerne is an active board member of Reaching OUT MBA, the premier organization focused on LGBTQ+ MBA students and alumni. He is also the visionary and current chair of the New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business LGBTQ Alumni Group and Vice Chair of NYU Stern Identity Affinity groups.

Prior to PointClickCare, Luzerne was a champion of LGBTQ communities while director of DEI at PepsiCo. Luzerne defined and owned the company’s global LGBTQ+ agenda. He helped create inclusive LGBTQ+ policies, expanded the reach beyond HR to other areas like marketing and helped start international chapters of LGBT employee resource groups (ERGs). Luzerne also defined the company’s ERG governance model, represented PepsiCo at national conferences like Out&Equal and he sat on The Partnership for Global LGBTI Equality (PGLE), a coalition of organizations committed to leveraging their individual and collective advocacy to accelerate LGBTI equality and inclusion globally and drive positive change. PGLE is a joint initiative of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the World Economic Forum.

Luzerne also started IELI Group, LLC, to offer keynote and executive coaching services focused in large part on those experiencing marginalization at work. Rolodex Global, another organization founded by Luzerne, focuses on elevating and celebrating LGBTQ+ professionals of African descent. Prior to his time at PepsiCo, Luzerne was both NYC LGBTQ+ ERG lead and national recruiting lead at Accenture. Luzerne has participated as a board or committee member of a host of organizations on campus at NYU and the University of Pennsylvania, including the NYU Stern OUTClass and the Penn LGBTQ alumni group (PennGALA). He is the founder of Queer People of Color at Penn and a founder of Wharton’s first LGBTQ undergraduate business group, now called Wharton Alliance. Luzerne has always been open and authentic in his representation of his identity and orientation as a proud member of the LGBTQ community.
